TY modern languages evening

pupils doing French and/or Spanish in Form IV give a short presentation on a topic of their choice in either French or Spanish. The purpose is to encourage the pupils to do some research on their own which very often involves working through the target language. The topic they choose is a topic that interests them and they learn how to express their interest orally to a group. Because they are a wide range of abilities and some who do not speak the other language, some element of the presentation can be given in English. The whole class produces a topic and from those a selection are taken for the evening itself. The field was once again very strong. There is a French winner, a Spanish winner and an overall winner. By clicking on the topic it should bring you to the slide presentation.

The topics this year were:
Le Champagne - Marie Schlüter
Las cuevas de Altamira - Victor Colom

Les Champs Elysées - Marta Perez-Pla
Las fiestas de Espana - Pia Klippgen
Le skieur Richard Permin - Hamish Law
La corrida - Selina Birke
Les plages du débarquement - Kezia Wright
Pablo Picasso - Jay Kim
Le Roi Soleil - Leticia de Colmenares

The interval was an opportunity to view a video prospectus of the college created,to everyone's great amusement, by Mr Morris' set and directed by Archie Macaulay. Many congratulations to all concerned and especially to Hamish Law, the overall winner (French) and to Victor Colom
(Spanish winner).
